Though we teach modern self-defense, tradition karate, the kihon & kata necessary to develop concrete Shotokan students, we incorporate the modern manifestation of contemporary competitive karate at its highest level. Both in the USANKF and AAU sporting organizations.

We are located in the Safeway parking lot at the intersection of Mississippi Avenue and Peoria Street. The dojo is the end cap unit next to Peoria Street at 12102 East Mississippi Avenue, Colorado 80012.

How long until I can become a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate?
Shotokan grades are one of the hardest things you will have to achieve in your life. However, you will never have to achieve so much as the road to your Shodan (Black Belt). The average for adult Shodan ranks is five years. But, as in Sensei David Gould's case, he remained a brown belt for over 5 years. He was failed two times for his Shodan Rank by his Sensei's Sensei (his father) only to achieve the rank after his third attempted at age 14. Sensei will iterate, "It didn't matter to me so much if I failed, I wasn't going to quit anyways, quitting is not something that lies within me, because of my karate training."
Let's remember, a Yudansha Karateka (a practicing black belt dedicated to karate) is nothing more than a White Belt that never quit. Black Belt remains the true start of the beginning of learning. Those who quit after reaching Shodan will never understand that.
